Brunch in the Heart of Covent Garden

The Black Penny Covent Garden sits on Great Queen Street, just moments from the Piazza and the Royal Opera House. This is our original London brunch restaurant, and it remains one of the most popular spots for breakfast and brunch in the area. The building's exposed brick walls, antique features, and maze of characterful rooms create an atmosphere that feels both intimate and buzzing, depending on where you choose to sit.

We open early for those who want to start their day with specialty coffee and a proper breakfast. Mornings here see a mix of locals grabbing coffee before work, visitors fuelling up before exploring the West End, and groups settling in for a leisurely weekend brunch. The menu runs all day, so whether you arrive at opening or closer to the afternoon, you can
order from our full breakfast and
brunch selection.

The food draws on European cafe culture with dishes designed for sharing or enjoying solo. Signature plates include The Hunter and The Gatherer, our takes on the full English, alongside bolder choices like Ozdemir Pasha, Crispy Duck Hash, and Wild Mushroom Polenta Hash. Vegetarian options feature throughout the menu, and gluten-free bread is available on request.

Beyond brunch, the Covent Garden restaurant transforms through the day. Lunch brings salads, flatbreads, and small plates. Evenings see the space shift into a relaxed dining and drinks destination, with cocktails, wine, and sharing boards served until late. The venue also houses the Seminar Pit, a unique private dining space available for events, celebrations, and group bookings.

Walk-ins are welcome, though booking
is recommended for weekends when the Covent Garden brunch crowd is at its busiest. Tables can be reserved online or through OpenTable.
